An article about Moi!

Before Christmas I was contacted by Sara from Durham Babies who wanted to start doing a monthly write-up on local area women business owners and how they are surviving being an mommy-prener. Well little old me is featured as the first spotlight for this month.

Let me be the first to say that having your own business is great but ALOT of work. So, having two is crazy! Sometimes I really think that I am losing my mind trying to remember everyone's needs and requests. I really understand why businesses charge as much as they do. By the time I factor in my time for e-mails, billing, product inquiries, edits, design, travelling... I think I must really be working for free. I'm sure it's a learning process and each year it will get that much easier. But I keep seem to be adding things to my roster of items that I just don't know if that will hold true. I am working on getting organized and marketing and promotions for the next few years. Maybe I'll get to those items next week.

Loving Life

So a little about me. Basically my life is pretty typically. I'm a wife, mother, photographer (and too many other professions to go on about)... If you had asked me a couple of years ago the later two wouldn't have been factored in. Becoming a mom two and half years ago to Maya really changed me. I went from wearing non-colours (black, grey, brown) to pinks, blue and dare I say teal. I've become a mommy-nerd (sans the mommy jeans. I haven't let myself go that much although I'm sure on some days my office dog and daytime companion Rex would disagree) and I love it. I can't imagine not singing songs and doing silly dances. I still love my salsa dancing, but now my hips sway to Raffi not the Tito Puente.

Right now, I'm loving life. Since branching out on my own last year, I've feel like I'm in a great space personally and professionally. This past week has cemented this mindset even more after joining
Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep (and the interest that has arisen from it). I'm really humbled to be able to give back to people in a special and giving way, through a medium I love and am passionate about. I am so excited to see where the next year brings me. Let the journey begin.
